What to do in Livigno

WHAT TO DO ALL OVER THE YEAR

Livigno is a popular duty-free location for open-air shopping. In the main streets you will find internationally renowned brands in boutiques and flagship stores at affordable, VAT-free prices. The food and wine offer is also wide-ranging and of quality in every season: don't miss the typical dishes such as sciatt, bresaola della Valtellina, pizzoccheri and the famous polenta... Among the main restaurants in the village, open all year round, I recommend the Bellavista and the Cenacolo. Depending on the season, it is possible to reach other characteristic alpine-style refreshment places by cable car or during a snowshoe hike in winter, while in summer the most visited destinations on foot or by E-bike are the malghe, Alpe Mine, Alpe Federia and Alpisella.

Relax and have fun at Acquagranda

The new Aquagranda aquatic centre, one of the largest in Europe, is the perfect solution for families during rainy days or at the end of a busy excursion. The wellness area with its numerous services, among which I recommend the massages and facial and body treatments, offers the older ones moments of relaxation while the children have fun in the pools with slides supervised by the centre's babysitters. On Mondays and Wednesdays, access to the relaxation area is extended until midnight, perfect for romantic evenings. Myholiday gives its customers a voucher with a 20% discount at the entrance.

Taste our local best products at la Latteria

For over 50 years, the Dairy has been processing milk to provide fresh, high-quality products such as delicious cheeses, yoghurt, ice cream and much more. The café inside the Dairy is an excellent place to enjoy a variety of breakfasts, dishes with homemade cheeses and local cold cuts, while for those with a sweet tooth, I recommend the homemade ice cream sundaes or parfaits. It is also possible to book a guided tour (available in Italian, English and German) of the small internal museum that traces Livigno's traditions.

Hop-on the Bernina red train

Considered a Unesco World Heritage Site, the Bernina Express is known as the "Bernina Red Train" from which you can admire millennia-old glaciers and fascinating Alpine panoramas in both summer and winter. The excursion includes departure by bus from Livigno and arrival at the Poschiavo station, where the enchanting journey through small typical Swiss villages, centuries-old forests, rivers and Alpine lakes to the magical St. Moritz begins. Departures are at hourly intervals throughout the year and the complete tour takes about two and a half hours.

Delight yourself with a dinner at a chalet

Typical dishes, spectacular pizzoccheri and fun. Tea Borch is a typical hut located at the foot of Carosello 3000. Simone, who has been running the hut for more than 20 years, will delight you with his cheerfulness for unforgettable moments. In summer, the hut can be reached by mountain-bike or on foot along a path through the forest. In winter, on the other hand, snowshoes or snowmobiles are the best choice. For an original dinner with friends, I recommend the famous barbecue on the piöda, a stone slab extracted from the Central Alps and also used in the area for cladding buildings.

To reach more distant locations, on the other hand, a completely free bus service is available with four lines operating daily from 7 a.m. to 8 p.m. For transfers to and from airports or train stations, our driver Pietro will professionally take care of your journey outside Livigno. In addition, depending on his availability, visits to nearby St.moritz, the renowned thermal baths of Bormio and other nearby destinations can be organised.

Discover local customs and traditions at the Livigno Museum

Did you know that Livigno has a museum dedicated to the culture of the area? Located in an old house, the "MUS" allows visitors to discover the traditions of our grandparents by replicating the typical elements of Livigno's houses. Various foodstuffs were produced inside the houses and wool was worked to obtain socks and clothing indispensable in the colder season. From time to time, new fittings are set up and old tools are introduced that are less familiar to new generations. The guided tour lasts approximately one hour and costs €5.

Enjoy Livigno's pubs, clubs and apres-ski

Livigno is perfect for those who love sport and fun. Along the village streets, and at the foot of the ski slopes, there are bars, après ski and disco pubs where you can spend carefree moments after an active day. Among our guests' winter favourites are: the Alpino located at the Eira pass, the Stalet and the Alegra at the foot of the Carosello 3000, Devid's après-ski at the departure point of the Cassana cableway, and the central après-ski. To continue the evening with some music, choose between the Bivio Club, Miky's Pub (in the pedestrian area), Marcos and Homelywood in the San Rocco area.

Taste a good wine made in Valtellina

Brayan and Natale, who are passionate about good wine, organise tours to discover Nebbiolo, an indigenous grape variety of Valtellina, from which the famous wines such as Inferno, Sassella and Valgella are made. Valtellina Wine Tour is a day full of Valtellina culture through wineries, tastings and stories that take you on a journey through tradition and culture. Characteristic are the terraces that tell of the hard work of Valtellina farming societies in both physical and temporal terms. Effort repaid by the good wine that is still a constant on our tables today.

Travel to the past with an horse excursion

To keep traditions alive in Livigno, excursioms are organised on horseback, an animal used in the past as a faithful helper and the main means of transport for the inhabitants of the area. During the winter, it is possible to have a magical experience by visiting the town's surroundings on board a sleigh pulled by these wonderful animals: you travel along a track immersed in white exclusively for pedestrians and beaten by the snowcat. The 4-person sleigh is equipped with wool blankets, comfortable padding and is driven by the fantastic local coachmen Filippo and Giuliano.
